The winners who took part in the fourth round of the renewable energy programme (REIPPPP) will be revealed in the first quarter of 2015, PV Tech reported.
The announcement was to take place in November but the South African Department of Energy revealed the new date on its website this week.
Bidding for the fourth window of the REIPPPP closed on 18 August 2014 and identified that there is an estimated 400MW of Photovoltaic (PV) on offer.

The first three rounds of the renewable energy programme comprised of 64 successful projects with a combined installed capacity of 1.5GW. The generated power will be fed to parastatel power company, Eskom, to help the utility meet growing energy demands.
The selected bidders have to meet the requirements set out by the REIPPPP which includes the promotion of economic development and local content.
Eskom has recently released the Generation Connection Assessment of the 2016 Transmission Network (GCCA Report) which will be in service as of 2016. The report indicates the amount of capacity available for new power generation to be added to the grid.
