Better use and management of power is key in South Africa, where a need for smart technology has been brewing for sometime

UK-based integrated system and software design company Cyan has signed a non-exclusive distribution agreement with XLink Communications in South Africa to supply Cyan’s smart metering and lighting solution CyLec for a 100 unit project as well as related Internet of Things applications.

Cyan will begin distributing its smart energy communication technology, which enables the measurement and control of energy consumption for the metering and lighting markets, in the first half of 2015.

Cape Town-based XLink, which currently manages Machine to Machine (M2M) solutions for over 68,000 businesses in Africa, has experience in deploying infrastructure assets within the power sector and will provide technical, field-based system integration and technical support for the deployment of Cyan’s technology across South Africa.
