the U.S. has big

Seattle, United States — ESI-AFRICA.COM — 15 December 2010 – United States Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, together with several other government agencies, has announced a renewable energy and energy efficiency export initiative aimed at doubling renewable energy exports in the next five years

In the first coordinated effort of its kind in the United States, the initiative brings together the Trade Promotion Coordinating Committee Working Group on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency; the Export-Import Bank of the United States; the Overseas Private Investment Corporation; the U.S. Trade and Development Agency; and the Office of the United States Trade Representative.

The initiative’s goal is to promote and increase renewable energy and energy efficiency exports as part of a cohesive programme during the next five years, and it is targeting US$10 billion (R69 billion) or more in annual export benefits. This coordinated effort is the first of its kind. The American Government plans to offer new financing products for exporters and to facilitate market access, among other things.
