10 October 2007 – 1 200 compact fluorescent bulbs have been distributed among the community of Shama-Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly in Ghana.

The bulbs were distributed as part of the National Efficiency Lighting Project, aimed at conserving energy in the west African state.

In an interview, Mr Philip Kwesi Nkuumah, chief executive of Shama-Ahanta East Metropolitan said that 250 000 bulbs would be distributed among the metropolitan area over the next one and a half months.
