They will also join the national effort to save 10% electricity consumption.

“We believe that the development of savings culture amongst all South Africans as well as the restructuring of the eectricity distribution industry will go a long way in ensuring that a holistic, integrated and sustainable solution to the electricity supply industry challenges are obtained” said the CEO of EDI Holdings, Phindile Nzimande.

“We therefore hope that the REF for RED2 will indeed give further impetus to the national initiative of saving electricity by 10% by amongst others ensuring meaningful participation of local government and other stakeholders in this national effort. It is also our desire that the REF also comes out with constructive and creative ways with which we can accelerate the restructuring of the electricity distribution industry and realise the goal of establishing six viable REDs that are intended to provide accessible, affordable and reliable supply of electricity to all.”
