Abuja clean-tech utility company seeks HSEQ associate

A clean-tech utility company that uses solar energy to generate clean, safe, cost-effective and sustainable electricity in rural and urban Nigeria is looking for a qualified health, safety, environment and quality (HSEQ) associate for its Abuja office.

Location: Abuja

Job objectives

As our HSEQ Associate, you are expected to work within the organisation to ensure that the health and safety of team members are preserved at all times. Also, you would support your supervisor to ensure that the company is compliant with all health, safety and environmental regulations.

Job description

  • Develop risk assessment and HSE plan for projects
  • Support with the development of required HSE documents for projects
  • Support the development and implementation of HSE Procedures
  • Induction of team members
  • Administer first aid and coordinate emergency response
  • Support the designing and implementation of HSE procedures
  • Near miss recording and incident investigation
  • Support the implementation, maintaining and reviewing of the company’s HSEQ management system
  • Support the designing and implementation of HSEQ policies, objectives, and targets
  • Coordinate toolbox talk during projects
  • Carry out inspection of worksites and ensure HSE compliance during projects 
  • Periodic reporting of HSEQ performance

Qualification/skills required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or Sciences
  • 1-2years proven experience as an HSE Officer
  • NEBOSH IGC 123 Certification
  • Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
  • Audit experience and knowledge of ISO 9001: 2015 and ISO 14001:2015
  • Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
  • Experience in the renewable energy sector is a plus
