Phakamani Hadebe has resigned and Eskom must now seek a new CEO to take over from July.
To date, the utility has made no announcement and advised that the vacancy will be advertised.
The new CEO will need to carefully navigate Eskom’s complex structures and steer the utility as it prepares to be split into three units (generation, transmission and distribution).
Speculation on possible candidates from Eskom’s executive team include Calib Cassim and Jan Oberholzer.
However, should Eskom rather take the lead from President Ramaphosa who lightened his Cabinet and deployed fresh candidates or look internally for a stalwart from its executive team?
Take the vote on who could possibly be the next Eskom CEO and share your opinion.
