Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, met with the new managing director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Sula Abdulaziz, and his management team, according to the minister’s Twitter account. This is barely a day after the minister sacked outgoing managing director Usman Mohammed.
According to news site Nigerian Energy Hub (NEH), Mamman was frank in sharing his expectations, and those of the Federal government, charging them with ensuring that all substation and transmission projects are completed within the shortest possible time.
News of the move, and of the new appointment meets a distribution industry and other sector stakeholders eager for news of stability in the country’s power sector, according to NEH.
Meanwhile, Nairametrics had reported on Tuesday that Mamman sacked Mohammed, and replaced him with Sule Abdulaziz, in an acting capacity.
According to Nairametrics, the news was broken in a statement issued by the Special Adviser Media & Communications to the Minister, Aaron Artimas on Tuesday. The statement disclosed the appointment of four directors who had been in acting positions for some time. The new directors include:
- Victor Adewunmi, executive director, Transmission Services Provider
- M ‘J Lawal, executive director, Independent Systems Operator
- Ahmed Isa-Dutse, executive director, Finance & Accounts
- Justin Dodo, executive director, Human Resources & Corporate Service
According to Artimas’ statement “All the changes and appointments have been approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.”
