Find your way around the procurement process

Running in conjunction with the 3rd Annual Smart Procurement World Conference in KwaZulu-Natal, the Enterprise & Supplier Development Expo offers buyers and suppliers an unparalleled opportunity to interact, learn about current trends and source products.

Hosted by the eThekwini Municipality and held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (previously the ICC) in Durban’s CBD, the Expo is the largest market access event between big business, government and black-owned businesses.

The Expo will be opened by Andre Petersen, Head of Supply Chain Management, eThekwini Municipality on the evening of 17 July and will run for the entire day on 18 July.

The event comprises a number of elements that include the Knowledge Hub Workshop Sessions, the on-floor complimentary procurement training, and the Supplier Matchup Sessions.

The Knowledge Hub Workshop Sessions will run from 9:00 to 16:00 in half-hour slots and focus on how to do business with various corporates such as Hulamin, Conlog, Bell Equipment, Tongaat Hulett Sugar, Astrapak, the tourism sector, the aluminium sector, the Airports Company of SA and Sun International, as well as with Government departments and Transnet.

The Supplier Matchup Sessions take place between 9:00 and 15:00 in hourly sessions that focus on various sectors including:

  • Construction
  • Engineering facilities
  • Manufacturing
  • Agriculture
  • Transport & logistics
  • Resources (e.g. petrochemical, energy and mining)
  • Services (e.g. retail and ICT)

On-floor procurement training takes place at 10:00, 11:00 and 14:00 and features topics on: introductions to procurement negotiations, contract management and supplier intelligence.

Exhibition stands can be either sponsored through corporates, who then host their selected SMMEs and provide them with the opportunity to meet with buyers, or stands can be self-funded.

Exhibitors are able to attend the Knowledge Hub Workshop Sessions, on-floor procurement training and the Supplier Matchup Sessions. Visitors are also invited to attend the Expo at no cost to view the expo stands and attend the various sessions.
