The Ethiopian Minister of Water & Energy, H.E Alemayehu Tegenu, and Miheret Debebe, Chief Executive Officer of the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPCO) have this week confirmed their attendance at Powering Africa: Ethiopia, a strategic investment meeting taking place from the 14-15 January 2013 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Addis Ababa.
This meeting will serve as a platform for building public and private partnerships to promote Ethiopia’s increasing role as the regional power exporter in East Africa. The Minister will be providing an introduction to Ethiopia’s Growth Transformation Plan (GTP) to underline their strategic goals for power generation, transmission and distribution, whilst international investors are invited to assess the investment landscape and suggest frameworks for establishing a successful IPP and PPP framework that will attract private investment into Ethiopia’s planned renewable energy projects.
The dialogue will enable the government and private sector to engage in necessary technical discussions for the transfer of knowledge and capabilities that will support the Ethiopian government’s grid expansion plans, maximise the power generation potential of the country and meet the growing domestic and export power demands.
Spaces are limited to maintain an intimate atmosphere for the purposes of open discussion.
