The East African Power Industry Convention (EAPIC) and co-located Water Utilities East Africa, has highlighted opportunities within the Tanzanian power and water sectors to the more than 300 delegates and exhibitors who are attending the event.
During his keynote address this morning, Minister for Water, Honourable Professor Jumanne Maghembe, Minister for Water, highlighted the plans which the government has for the continued provision of water to the population, along with sustainability initiatives which the Ministry are undertaking to ensure that this key, scarce resource, is suitably managed.
Other speakers in the keynote session included Mr Haruna Masebu, Director General of EWURA, the regulatory authority in Tanzania, and Engineer Maneno Ketyega, Deputy Managing Director for Finance, Tanesco. They were joined on the stage by His Excellency Elly Mtango, Board Chairman of the Tanzania Investment Centre.
EAPIC, which is celebrating its 14th year, is the foremost power event in East Africa, and brings together key stakeholders in the East African region – gathering utilities, ministries, regulators, IPPs, financiers, projects developers and consultants – under one roof for 2 days of intensive discussion and debate. The strategic and technical content of the event covers issues relevant to the whole industry, from senior-level management to technical staff. Water Utilities East Africa, highlights a programme of managing water resources, non-revenue water and water quality.
The accompanying exhibition is open to the public and is open from 09:00 on Wednesday 12th September. Visitors are welcome to come to the Serena Dar es Salaam to walk the exhibition floor and engage with the more than 30 exhibitors from countries around the globe. These exhibitors represent a variety of power related equipment, from pre-paid meters to large multinational equipment suppliers and service providers.
