Friday 7 September will see the first of a series of meetings of the African Utility Week Brand Ambassadors.  These meetings will be used as kick off points to the development of the conference programme where discussions will centre around the most pertinent topics, themes and speakers for African Utility Week 2013.

African Utility Week, which is the largest utility services event in Africa, African Utility Week brings together the entire ecosystem for the African power sector, from high level government representatives, utilities and municipalities, regulators and power pools to consultants, vendors, service providers and energy intensive power users for the purpose of sharing and determining the future development of Africa’s power industry.

Says Event Director, Russell Hughes, “African Utility Week 2013 is going to be bigger and better than ever before.  The strong support of our Brand Ambassadors will ensure that this continues to be an event ‘for the industry, by the industry’.  This year the quality and quantity of the Brand Ambassadors are stronger than ever, with more than 10 director level participants, 7 CEOs and a sector director from the African Union all collaborating on this world class event”.

The first meeting, which takes place in Johannesburg, will be followed by another in Dar es Salaam and follow up meetings in Addis Ababa and Lagos.

Claire Volkwyn, Spintelligent’s Director of Content and Strategy continues: “By restructuring the team, we have been able to form two dedicated sub-teams – one with a focus on the exhibition, and another which is totally focussed on putting together a world class programme, which addresses and informs the current challenges, trends and opportunities within the power and water sectors.  This strategy will ensure that the quality of the conference is maintained even as the rest of the event grows”.

African Utility Week conference and exhibition attendees can explore information on Large Power Users, Metering, Clean Power, Transmission & Distribution/Smart Grids, Water, Infrastructure Investment and Power Generation.

African Utility Week 2013 will take place from 14 – 15 May at the Cape Town Convention Centre, South Africa, with pre-conference workshops on 13th May and site visits on 16th May.  More information about African Utilty Week can be found at www.african-utility-week.com
