Eskom recently resumed its rotational load shedding schedule, which left many in darkness this weekend.
The parastatal confirmed this morning that Stage 2 load shedding would continue across the country today due to a number of generating units tripping, causing a reduction in total supply.
Stage 2 calls for 2,000MW to be loadshed on rotation as a measure of last resort to protect the power system from a total collapse or blackout.
The utility stressed in a statement: "We continue to appeal to residents and businesses to use electricity sparingly during this period. Please switch off geysers and all non-essential appliances to assist in reducing demand."
