Report on power sector delivered to EFCC

Imoke
Former minister
of power, Liyel Imoke
23 July 2008 - The report from Nigerian House of Representatives Committee on Power Sector has been delivered to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

An unknown source reports that recommendations have been made for the prosecution of former FCT minister, Malam Nasir el-Rufai and former minister of power, Liyel Imoke over "clear financial crimes".

According to the Leadership newspaper, Imoke will reportedly be prosecuted for his involvement in the misappropriation of US$16 billion in the power sector.

Amid reports of interference from various quarters to prevent the publication of the report, a member of the House Committee said "Whether the forces succeeded in killing the report or not some persons will be prosecuted for their involvement in the power sector scam."
