ARGeo geothermal conference: 21 – 23 November 2012, Nairobi, Kenya

ARGeo’s project objective is to promote geothermal resource development and utilization by reducing the risk associated with exploration and exploitation. ARGeo aims to accelerate geothermal investments in both the public and private sectors in the Eastern Africa region. The project is financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

ARGeo holds biennial conferences to further regional cooperation in the development and utilization of geothermal resources. The first three ARGeo conferences were held in Ethiopia, Uganda and Djibouti respectively.

Geothermal: Solution to Africa’s Energy Needs.

Conference Objectives

  • Promote geothermal resource development and utilization by reducing the risk associated with exploration and exploitation.
  • Encourage and accelerate geothermal investment in both the public and private sectors in Eastern Africa.
  • Address and offer solutions on how to reduce lead times for developing geothermal projects, leverage investment to stimulate industry growth, and how to effectively develop, construct and operate geothermal power plants.
