Editorial Guidelines


The following guidelines apply to ESI Africa magazine and esi-africa.com

Case Study:

Sourced from: A vendor or service provider and the utility or client implementing the vendor’s product or service. The article should discuss the problem or need, describe the search for solutions, and state how the problem was solved. Installations that realise quantified savings and efficiencies, or products used in innovative ways, are good topics.

Length: Two pages; approximately 1600 words, depending on the number of graphics.

Graphic elements: Two or three which illustrate the implementation. Please note that if you send more than two graphics, or large graphics, you may need to cut the number of words. Include captions for all graphics.

Material specification: Text is emailed as an MSWord document to the editor, Antonio Ruffini

Headlines: Maximum ten words, preferably less. Longer headlines will be shortened in the editorial process.

Photos and graphic elements are emailed to the editor: tiff files at 250 dpi up to 1MB, or jpeg at 300 dpi.

Note: PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE PHOTOS OR GRAPHIC ELEMENTS IN THE TEXT DOCUMENT. Please send them as separate attachments.

Commercial Feature Editorial Guidelines

Sourced from: Vendors of equipment or systems.

Topics: Any aspect of the power industry from a commercial/technical viewpoint, with a proposed solution and a brief description of the product or system providing the solution. Company profiles are included in this category. Commercial features may be accompanied by an advertisement.

Length: One page (700 words) with or without an advertisement.
One and a half pages (1200 words) with a half page advertisement.
Two pages (1600 words) with or without a full page advertisement.

Terms: Commercial features are paid for.

Topics: Industry trends, or subjects related to metering and customer management, from an author who has a completely independent viewpoint. No promotion of companies, products or systems.

Length: Two or three pages, 1600 or 2300 words respectively.

Graphic elements: Two or three. Three graphic elements are preferable if the article is to be three pages long. Please note that if you send more than this number, or if the graphics are large, you may need to cut the number of words. Include captions for all graphics.
