New relationship between SPM and ZERA

SPM is a leading service provider in providing turnkey primary plant services to the electricity supply industry and industrial customers. Services provided by SPM include the transportation, installation, testing and commissioning of HV circuit breakers and power transformers.

Increasing electricity tariffs and the increasing energy efficiency focus in South Africa and the introduction of smart metering, has provided an ideal opportunity for SPM to increase its service offerings. In this regard, SPM is entering into a partnering with ZERA from Germany, a leader in the production and supply of test equipment for portable and stationery meter testing.

ZERA provides equipment for generation, measuring, testing and calibration of electric variables worldwide. The product range covers a wide spectrum – from portable meter test systems for on-site testing to stationary meter test systems and instrument transformer test systems. Beside many standard products, ZERA has the ability and flexibility to offer customised solutions in close collaboration with its customers.

SPM and ZERA met at the Africa Utility Week in Durban in March 2010 and spend the next three months exploring a working relationship, resulting in the formalisation of this relationship in July 2010.
